A profile picture, an article cover, a CV, a lesson recording. It goes in here and is available everywhere on HTT straight away — no re-uploading the same photograph on five platforms.
Pictures, video, audio and documents live here, and every HTT platform reads from here. Ten megabytes free for everyone, forever — more when you need it, for a few tokens a month.
What it is
Every other HTT product stores a link to a picture. This is what the link points at.
A profile picture, an article cover, a CV, a lesson recording. It goes in here and is available everywhere on HTT straight away — no re-uploading the same photograph on five platforms.
Schools, Educate, Chat, Blog, Fun, Store, Jobs, Fellowship, Ads, Wallet and Tech all read from here. One file, one link, one place to change it.
One screen shows everything you have stored, what each file is being used for, and how much room is left. Delete something and it leaves the trash after thirty days, not thirty seconds.
Why we can be trusted with them
For most of HTT's life we deliberately did not do it. Building this meant writing down every way it could go wrong first, and then closing each one.
Not by what it is called and not by what your browser said it was. A web page renamed to “photo.png” is refused, and so is an SVG — an image format that can carry scripts.
A picture off a phone carries GPS coordinates. Every image is re-encoded on the way in, which strips the coordinates, the camera serial, and anything hidden after the image data.
If a renewal fails, the extra space stops counting and the account stops accepting new uploads. Everything already stored keeps working. We do not delete people’s things over money.
What it costs
Ten megabytes is enough for a profile picture, a CV and a few covers — which is all most people ever need. Past that, space is bought in blocks by the month, cancellable any time, and you keep whatever month you have paid for.
